Follow these simple tips for a truly sexy back!

Back Training
To follow the chest workout in the last article we will move on to muscle building for the back. There are hundreds of exercises out there to work the back, here we will combine some of the best to give you a solid training routine. Remember, it is important to log your workouts. Keep track of exercise, weight, repetitions, and rest times in your log. This will be very beneficial in progressing you towards your goals.

Back Workout

Warm Up: Elliptical machine for 5-10 minutes
50 pullups (Take as many sets as you need in order to reach 50 repetitions)

Underhand Grip Lat Pull-down

15 Reps
12 Reps
10 Reps
8 Reps

Seated Rows Wide Grip

15 Reps
12 Reps
10 Reps
8 Reps

You may be saying, “Wait a minute, that’s it? Just 3 exercises.” Yes, that is all…. for now. You have to start somewhere, and even if you are an avid weight lifter you can still push yourself by increasing the weight to make this workout much more difficult. Give it a shot for 1 month, 1-2 times a week. Partnered with a solid nutrition program you will be on your way to great success.

Summertime Layers

Hanging down by the marina or a nice harbor cruise is always a great way to keep cool in the summertime. A great way to play into the nautical theme is to add stripes or prints that evoke the oceanic vibes. Overheating is not the objective, but layering is always a good idea. Darius (left) wears a light weight Smooth Co. Chambray button up under a low gauge, breathable knit striped sweater by Ever. The sleeves are rolled up and the collar is open and exposed. Paired with some white twill shorts from NUCO really says summertime by the water. Dave (right) is wearing his Riviera Club button up with 2 sided fabric and anchor print over a striped tissue tee from Smooth Co. His shorts are a Smooth Co. Chambray that sits above the knees allowing a breeze to flow through. Both of these looks are impeccably yacht ready.

This summer as the tempuratures rise across the nation, may people are putting away the darker colored clothing in their waredrobe and opting for a more clean and light alternative. Blue is a color that can pretty much be worn year-round in different shades and hues. In this look, Brian is wearing a light-weight french terry, short sleeve crew sweater which is layered over an all white tissue polo, both from Smooth Co.’s Spring Collection. 3 Sets of Plyo push-ups to failure.

What are plyo push-ups you ask? A plyometric pushup is a basic push-up but calls for loads of power. Begin in the basic pushup position and perform your first rep, drop down and then explode so that your hands leave the ground and repeat until you can not continue any longer. Rest 2 minutes and repeat for a total of 3 sets.

It’s Friday, and you want to just have a casual yet stylish day? The above look is a perfect way to to achieve this mood and blend California casual with a little urban grunge. If anyone has been paying attention to the runways or street fashion lately, you would know that sweat pants aren’t just for the retired or gym bound guys, they can be dressed up and worn out into the world with confidence. A favorite this season is the drop-crotch harem style sweat pant, but this style can be intimidating for the fashion conservative. In this look we have combined a Smooth Co. Thermal Henley and Twill Vest for the top half and a pair of slim fitting sweats from Inven.tory on the bottom half . Post-Workout Protein Cookies

So if your anything like me, you agree cookies are a pretty amazing snack, but I am sure what you know most about cookies is that they are not that great for your mid-section. Until now. I have found a recipe for cookies that are not only good for you, but they will actually be quite beneficial to build and repair muscle following your intense workouts. Each cookie provides you with an essential amount of protein and carbohydrates for a post workout meal.

First the ingredients:

1 1/2 cup of gluten free oats
7 egg-whites
3 scoops of chocolate protein powder ( for the best taste I recommend either myofusion, syntha six, or profight brand protein)
1/2 cup of unsweetened organic applesauce
1/4 cup of stevia
1/3 cup of pistachios
1/2 cup of raisins
1 tsp of cinnamon
2 tbsp of agave syrup
1 cap full of vanilla extract

First put into a mixing bowl the oats, chocolate protein powder, stevia, pistachios, raisins, and cinnamon. Mix the dry ingredients, then begin to add the wet ingredients. Egg-whites, applesauce, agave syrup and the vanilla extract. Now continue to mix all of the ingredients together until it becomes smooth in consistency. Next grab a baking sheet and spray it with some no calorie cooking spray, or better yet, lightly coat the baking sheet with coconut oil. Then, get your hands dirty and place about 8-10 palm size cookies onto the baking sheet.

Insert cookies into preheated oven of 325 degrees. Bake for 20 minutes, take them out and let cool for 20 minutes before you place them onto a plate or into some tupperware to save for your post workout treats. Enjoy.
